Li Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering (MAE) and an associate faculty member in Chow Yuk Ho Technology Centre for Innovative Medicine (TIM) and T Stone Robotics Institute (CURI) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He received the B.S. degree from Zhejiang University, China, in 2000, the M.S. degree from the University of Kiel, Germany, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Basel, Switzerland, in 2007. From 2002 to 2006, he was with the Laboratory for Micro- and Nanotechnology (LMN), Paul Scherrer Institute, and also with the Department of Physics at the University of Basel. He joined the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems (IRIS), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland as a postdoctoral fellow in 2007, and as a senior scientist from 2009 to 2012. He then joined CUHK in 2012 as an Assistant Professor.

His main research interests include micro-/nanorobotics and their biomedical applications, and nanomaterials for energy storage and environmental applications. Dr. Zhang is a senior member of IEEE, a member of ASME, IEEE RAS, MRS and ACS. Since 2004 he has authored and co-authored over 160 papers, including Science Robotics and Nature Communications. Several of his journal papers have been indexed as ISI highly cited papers, and/or highlighted in Science or Nature. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (IEEE), Journal of Micro-Bio Robotics (Springer) and International Journal of Advanced Robotic System (SAGE Publishing), IET Micro & Nano Letters, and as an Editorial Board member of Scientific Reports (NPG), and he was a leading Guest Editor of Nanoscale (RSC Publishing) and Robotics and Biomimetics (Springer). He also serves as a peer reviewer for Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Science Robotics, Nano Letters, ACS Nano, JACS, Advanced Materials, Advanced Energy Materials, Nano Energy, IEEE/ASEM JMEMS, IEEE T-Ro, IEEE T-ASE, IEEE T-MECH, IJRR, etc.

Dr. Yu Jiangfan graduated from CUHK and received his PhD degree in Mechanical and Automation Engineering in 2018. From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Yu Jiangfan studied at Harbin Institute of Technology and received his B.Eng. in Automation. Now he is working on magnetic microrobotic swarm control.

Dr. Lao Zhaoxin received his B. Eng from Hefei University of Technology in June 2012. In June 2017, he graduated from USTC and received his PhD degree in Instrument Science and Technology. Then, he worked as a post-doc in CAS Key Laboratory of Mechanical Behaviorand Design of Materials at USTC. In August 2018, he was selected to “Hong Kong Scholars Program (香江學者)”. He joined Prof. Zhang's group in Jan. 2019. Now he is working on fs-laser fabrication and micro/nanoself-assembly.

Dr. Wang Ben received his PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering from CUHK in 2018. He graduated from Hubei University and received his Master's degree in Materials Science in June 2014. Now he is focusing on the synthesis of smart interfacial materials.

Dr. Kou Shanglong joined Prof. Zhang Li's lab as a Postdoctal Fellow in 2019. His research interests are revolved around translational medicine and drug discover. He got his Ph. D. degree at Department of Anaethesia and Intensive Care in 2017 and then worked on the preclinical study of drug development in Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Now he is involved in the studies of biomagnetic stimulation and neuroparthic pain.

Dr. Dong Yue received his PhD and B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Chemistry of Huazhong University of Scienceand Technology (HUST) from 2010 to 2019. Now he is focusing on the macroscopicassembly of graphene-based materials by microfluidic devices, micromotors forbiomedical and environmental applications and fiber fabrication.

Gao Jinhong (高錦鴻)

Dr. Gao Jinhong received his B.S. degree in biology science from Xiamen University in June 2010. In June 2016, he obtained his PhD in analytical chemistry from Xiamen University. In October 2019, he joined Prof. Zhang’s Lab and is working on high performance biosensing and theranostics based on intelligent micro/nano robot.
